Cincinnati or bust…

Hi guys! After what seemed like an eternity in the car we made it to Cincinnati to start work on our new record. I had a good 200 mile stretch of driving, by the way… In spite of the fact that I shared some of the duties time around to give Charlie and Claire a bit of a break, I”m not sure that it was a total success because at one point Claire leaned over to me and said, “Hey, just so you know, all of the other cars in the HOV lane are cursing your name because you’re only going fifty miles per hour.” Oh well, you can’t win them all.

As wonderful and magical as this place is, there’s still not a whole lot to report back to you yet. The real stuff starts in about 45 minutes when we begin our work day with producer Ric Hordinski. Right now, it’s just showers and hot tea and green smoothies.

I thought though that you might like to see some photos from our travels yesterday.

Our view for about 13 hours.

Claire said at some point in the morning, "it was probably a bad idea to embark on a 12 hour drive with a collective 6 hours of sleep." So we spent a bit of time in the car making up for it (not all at the same time, though!).

Stopping for a lunch break in Knoxville, TN.

Crossing over the state line from Tennessee into Kentucky. Only one more state to cross!

On the road...

Coming into the city.

We finally made it!

Playing a little piano to warm up for the long day of tracking come morning.

The studio is housed in an old, converted church. Hence the signs on the doors: pastor's office/toilet.

Here my friends is our home for the next week. Keep checking back for updates. Love, love, love, love!

  1. Have fun! If you need some historical reading, you can start here and see what the place looked like 5 years ago:
