Sarah Mac in Africa: UPDATE 2
Sarah and Jen at the Slave Port. Benin is part of what was once known as the slave coast. Before Sarah started learning about modern day child trafficking we thought we would visit the slave museum in Ouidah.
Children in Ouidah.
Upon leaving Ouidah we headed to Grand Popo for Unseen Stories Benin meetings.
Sarah, Steve (Peace Corps), Aaron (Peace Corps), Martin (translator), and Jen. Meeting to make plans to take teams of Americans back to Benin in the summer of 2009.
Lunch with Les Freres de Sang (the Beninise version of Boys to Men). They are very popular here. Unseen Stories had the opportunity to film their music video when they lived there last year and they have graciously agreed to play and help plan the kick off event for the summer 2009 tour in Benin!
SAFETY FIRST! We borrowed helmets from the Peace Corps office in case we need to ride zims (motorcycle taxis).
More adventures and stories from Sarah coming soon….stay tuned! To learn more about Unseen Stories and to read Jen’s blog about this trip, visit the Unseen Stories website.
